£12 million boost for English seaside resorts

Southport, Great Yarmouth, Bridlington and Hastings will share £12 million grant from the DCMS funded Sea Change scheme which aims to boost regeneration in coastal areas through investment in culture and heritage.

The money will fund projects to improve theatres, create new performance spaces and retain the heritage within the towns. The programme will give a total of £45 million over three years to coastal resorts and Blackpool, Torbay and Dover were the first towns to receive large grants last year.

It’s great to see the government continuing to invest in the regeneration and renewal of our seaside resorts and that good design and the arts are being used to stimulate the process.
