Is this East Kent triangle the new Ludlow?

Kent restaurants are causing a stir in the Good Food Guide 2009 and leading to comparisons with renowned foodie favourite Ludlow, in Shropshire!! Reporters have identified a rough triangle, encompassing Canterbury, Whitstable and Faversham in East Kent, as the new gastronomic hot-spot.

Three new Kent entries appear in the 2009 Guide.  They are the Yew Tree Inn at  Barfreston, near Dover, the Three Mariners at Oare, near Faversham and The Dove in Dargate.

These restaurants join other high-scoring Good Food Guide entries like the Sportsman at Seasalter, Whitstable, and Read’s at Faversham – both also retained their Michelin stars this year. There’s also the very popular Whitstable trio, JoJos, Wheelers and Williams and Brown, the Goods Shed restaurant in Canterbury, The Fitzwalter Arms at Goodnestone, and the Granville at Lower Hardres –the Sportsman’s sister restaurant.

I can personally recommend the Sportsman, Jo Jo’s, Wheelers, Williams and Brown, The Goods Shed and the Dove, as I have eaten at all establishments in the last year.  I’ll obviously have to test the others very soon! I’d be interested to hear your views too.
